A Sisterhood of Learning
by Fatima Siddiqui
I walk into the masjid brimming with excitement for yet another youth class and the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with friends. I quickly make my way up the stairs, greeting elders on the way and go straight to room 1. Upon entering I greet the teacher, go over to my friends and grab a seat to get ready for class. That’s how most of my Friday nights are spent, at IPC’s Youth Class.
Each Friday we learn about new topics and gain knowledge on things we didn’t know before, such as the importance of hijab, modesty, etc. I’m always excited and eager for this class as it gives me a chance to share my thoughts and enjoy heartfelt conversation with others. It is also through this class that I have met some of the most remarkable girls who have become my closest friends.
The youth class has not only given me a chance to meet new friends, but also helped me gain and deepen my knowledge of Islam. Each class is an adventure into exploring Islam in a fun, engaging and meaningful manner. Additionally, we participate in games and debates that enhance the learning experience and strengthen our bonds. This class is more than just a class; it’s a sisterhood built on friendship, knowledge and fun! I hold this class very close to my heart and always cherish the experiences I have here.
IPC’s Youth lass has become a cornerstone of my Friday nights, transforming my ordinary evenings into opportunities for growth, learning, and strong connection. It’s a place where we not only delve into the teachings of Islam but also build lasting friendships and create unforgettable memories. This cherished time each week reinforces the values of our faith while fostering a supportive community that I am proud to be a part of.
